UC7: Dataset for Prediction of Therapy-Induced Toxicity in Prostate Cancer
Short Description
A dataset of prostate cancer patients treated with radiation therapy or prostatectomy, including post-treatment toxicity and quality of life data, to support prediction of therapy-induced side effects and inform personalized treatment planning.
Description
The UC7: Dataset for Prediction of Therapy-Induced Toxicity in Prostate Cancer comprises clinical, treatment, toxicity, and quality of life data from patients who have undergone either radiation therapy or radical prostatectomy. It includes both patients who experienced biochemical recurrence and those who did not, offering a comprehensive view of post-treatment outcomes. This dataset is designed to enable the development of predictive models that estimate the likelihood of treatment-related toxicities, including urinary incontinence, bowel irritation, erectile dysfunction, and hormonal imbalances. These models aim to identify patients at high risk for significant functional side effects, particularly in cases of non–life-threatening or indolent disease where the long-term impact on quality of life is a key consideration. By providing early and individualized risk assessments, the dataset supports shared decision-making and helps clinicians and patients weigh the risks and benefits of various treatment options. It can also guide the adoption of less aggressive or more targeted therapies and inform the use of supportive interventions aimed at preserving function and well-being.
Details
Intended purpose
This dataset is intended to support the development of AI and statistical models that predict therapy-induced toxicity in prostate cancer patients treated with surgery or radiation. It helps identify individuals at higher risk of adverse outcomes, enabling clinicians to tailor treatment strategies, improve quality of life, and reduce unnecessary morbidity in patients with low-risk or localized disease.
