UC1: Dataset for Prostate Cancer Detection
Short Description
This dataset contains imaging and clinical data from patients with and without prostate cancer, used to develop AI models for accurate detection of clinically significant prostate cancer in both peripheral and transitional zones.
Description
The UC1: Dataset for Prostate Cancer Detection includes imaging and clinical data from a diverse cohort of patients either diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) through biopsy or prostatectomy, or confirmed as cancer-free through negative MRI findings and extended follow-up (minimum of one year). This dataset spans a spectrum of prostate health statuses, including patients with benign conditions such as hypertrophy or inflammation and those with varying stages of PCa. Designed to support the development of AI algorithms for the accurate detection of prostate cancer, this dataset focuses on both peripheral and transitional zones of the prostate. It enables differentiation between malignant and benign prostate conditions, especially in cases with elevated PSA levels (>4 ng/mL). By improving diagnostic accuracy, the dataset provides a foundation for tools that can reduce unnecessary biopsies and guide clinical decision-making regarding further diagnostic workup for suspicious MRI findings.

Intended purpose
This dataset is intended to aid in the development of AI tools that can detect clinically significant prostate cancer with high accuracy. It supports risk stratification in patients with elevated PSA levels, helping distinguish between benign conditions and cancer, and identifying which individuals require further diagnostic testing. Ultimately, it aims to improve patient outcomes by guiding personalized diagnostic pathways and avoiding overdiagnosis and overtreatment of indolent disease.
